MÁSZ

The Hungarian Association of Zoos was founded in 1980, then with 10 members, which was the minimum possible number for an association to be founded in Hungary under socialism. Later, new zoos were added, some members quit but after that the number stabilized and is more or less the same. An interesting feature in the beginning was the membership of the Lóri Madárpark - private bird park (until the early 90s, when it was closed). MÁSZ has been based in Budapest since its foundation.
