KAZA

Korean Association of zoos and Aquariums was founded in 1985 (in Seoul Grand Park) as the National Council of Zoo and Aquarium Directors (전국동물원·수족관장포다). In 1994, the name was changed to the current one and the abbreviation KAZA based on the English translation began to be used. This name is still used, but only in English - 2016, it was changed in Korean to 카자, which is just the phonetic transcription of the abbreviation KAZA. The association unites South Korean zoos, aquariums, but also an animal theater for example.
