AZA

Association of Zoos and Aquariums founded 1924 as American Association of Zoological Parks and Aquariums (AAZPA), In 1996 it became a branch of the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA), but since 1971 it has been independent again. 1994 was renamed to American Zoo and Aquarium Association and since 2006 has current name. It is based in Silver Springs (Maryland, USA) and associates more than 230 zoos and Aquariums from the USA and more than 20 from other countries (Argentina, Bermuda, Bahamas, Dominican Republic, Hong Kong, South Korea, Canada, Colombia, Mexico, UAE, Singapore and Spain). AZA supports several thousands conservation programs in more than 100 countries.
