Mini zoo Stará Bystrica

Originally Station of young naturalists of House of Pioneers and Youth (today CVČ = Leisure Centre), where were macaques, ponies, rabbits, parrots, pheasants, pigeons etc. The SMP was supported by Bojnice zoo and especially by local JRD (= collective farm). When after 1990, the Collective farm was closed, the Station of young naturalists without the support was faced with existential problems, but survived and later even a little rose for some time. The Mini zoo relatively normaly functioned even more about in 2010. There were domestic animals (sheep, goats, pigs, chickens and perhaps also horeses and ponies), unspecified birds, perhaps martens and emu. Later, it was rented for financial reasons, but the new operator canceled the tenancy after about one year. In May 2014, the Leisure Centre rented a mini zoo to other applicant, he temporary closed the zoo and started a partial renovation.

The Mini Zoo is a long row of cages elevated on brick fundamentals - double and triple cages, behind which is a building in entire length. Behind the house there are two large enclosures and in front of it is one even larger. Currently there are only barnacle geese and several domestic animals (horses, sheep, goats, pigs...). Mini zoo should be reopened at the earliest during 2016 and should establish on the restaurant and the apartments of the new tenant.
