Popis, zvířata
Only very little information is available about a small private zoo in the former independent Petržalka. Although it is one of the very first zoological facility on the territory of Slovakia, the reports of it are only in connection with the former Brno Zoo-corner in Tyrš' park. In March 1939, Mr. Janečka (owner of the zoo) wrote letter to the Brno zoo-corner - he offered to the Zoo-corner all its animals and also its services. The reason was connection of Petržalka to the Greater German Reich, thereby Petržalka was cut off from the city (Bratislava) and a private zoo lost a visitor base.
Janečka had apparently large number of animals, because the Brno zoo-corner was afraid that if they took all the animals, there would be problems with the protectorate administration, which does not permit an extension of the Zoo-corner. Brno initially offered buying of only rare animals, but finally took over the entire Petržalka Zoo also with its owner (as new employee). The most valuable animals were the family of red-capped mangabeys and two white-faced capuchins. In addition to these they are known only rhesus macaques and some birds (may be herons or cranes).
