Former Lumpepark, which was confiscated in 1946 and changed into a public park (Sady Edvarda Beneše). But soon there was created a zoo-corner (roe deer, sheep, bears, pheasants...) and therefrom the Zoo Usti nad Labem was arisen in 1949. It was of a very poor level in the begining, but gradually improved and expanded its area. The biggest boom the zoo has seen in the 70s, when a new large pavilions (pavilion of carnivores and exotárium) and huge enclosures of rhinos, elephants, zebras, giraffes, antelopes... were build. The area of the zoo has increased to the current 26 ha. Today visitors can admire both original, but renovated pavilions, pavilion of monkeys, pavilion of elephants, exhibition of orangutans, sea lions, many enclosures of ungulates and other animals, summer pen of alligators, pool of seals etc. There is also an old instructive dinosaur trail with wooden dinosaurs and nature trail of Lumpepark with several original elements (Dwarven castle, pool...). From less often kept animals can be named eg. serow, Javan Langur, silvered leaf-monkey, Katanga lions, Malayan tiger, Vietnamese sika deer etc. The most favorite animals for visitors are elephants, sun bears and orangutans popular from TV film ("Two people at the Zoo").
