Botanical Garden Liberec

The oldest and one of the most beautiful botanical gardens in the Czech republic (the largest tropical and subtropical exposition in the country). 1960, in the botanical garden there were built freshwater aquariums. 4 years later (1964) also added sea aquariums - first in the country. The aquariums were of smaller size and formed a sort of aquarium wall in one of the corridors above the stairs. In addition to fish in a botanical garden there were also crocodiles. In 1995 - 2000, was dismantled all 18 greenhouses (11 for exposure +7 for cultivation) and built a brand new modern complex in form of the cluster of crystals (9 pavilions for exposure and 9 for cultivation). In the new complex the Aquariums are already in a separate pavilion (pavilion B). There is a large tunnel aquarium with Oscar fishes and several smaller aquariums along all the walls - the number of fish (e.g. piranhas, lionfish, clownfish, triggerfish, discus, zebrasoma, Tetradontidae, morays, lungfish etc.), cartilaginous fish (stingrays, carpetsharks) and invertebrates (corals, sea anemones etc.). At the entrance hall (ground floor of Pavilion A) are two aquariums with aquatic turtles and axolotls. In Pavilion E (Neotropis) there is exposure to caimans, and turtles. Pavilion I (Flowery selection) is home to koi carps and in the upper floor of the gallery (Pavilion C - Australis) there is an aviary with small exotic birds (eg Neophema parrots, doves, zebra finches etc.).

The botanical garden is divided into several thematic exhibitions: Ground floor: entrance and Aquariums (Pavilion A), Aquarium (Pavilion B), Australis (C), carnivorous plants (D), Neotropis (E), a large cacti (F), Paleotropis (G ), Prehistory (H), Flowery selection (I). Upper floor: cacti (A), Arid Africa (B), orchids (G). Garden: park, perennials, Alpinum, rhododendrons, wetlands flora, Oriental Gardens and bonsai (entrance from the greenhouse).
