Tiergarten Edelgrund Warnsdorf • Zoopark Edelgrund Varnsdorf

Small zoo at forest restaurant Edelgrund (Waldrestaurant Edelgrund), which existed in the first half of the 20th century. It is available very few information (because of relocations and withdrawals of population after World War 2). The restaurant was built in the early 20th century, the zoo probably a few years later. Edelgrund experienced the greatest heyday in the 30s. There was a pond with an islet and waterfowls, aviary, domestic animals, reportedly bears and several other animals. According to contemporary photos of calendar also some deer. Zoo disappeared may be during the war or shortly after (in the second half of the 1940s or at the latest in the early 1950s) - a forest restaurant was totaly downfallen. Only a fragmentary memories remains from the zoo and restaurant. Currently in the place there is a settling pit of fly ash. According to a few sources some other small zoo was also in the city park.
