At the late 19th century, there was a real chance to establish a zoo in Prague - in Letná (according to plans by architect Kalkus) or then in Stromovka. The Earl Moritz Sporck appealed this intention in the press and also Society for the Improvement of the Breeding of Small Domestic Animals in the Czech Kingdom )Spolek ku zvelebení chovu drobných domácích zvířat v Království Českém) was very engaged. The real prospects of the zoo in the capital have caused that various societies and individuals began to send animals for the future zoo. And because there was no place for animals, the Society set up (about in the 1890s) a small provisional zoo in the Municipal Park of Stromovka (probably in the northern part). 1894, the City Council gave 2000 goldens for its operation. At that time, there were 4 swans, 2 geese, about 10 ducks, 2 storks, vulture, eagle and several sparrows. Later, reportedly also parrots and monkeys. The small zoo was not in the best condition, there was written mainly about poor care. The Zoo probably disappeared at the beginning of the 20th century when it was clear that the Prague Zoo would not be built.

In addition oto this small zoo, there was also one aviary with song birs in the park across from Franz Joseph station (later Wilson's, today's main railway station) and supposedly also at the Petřín cable car (foxes, vulture) - they served less or more as a promotion to build a zoo.
