Zookoutek Louny

From a gathering of people and a contribution of savings bank in 1932 were in Masaryk's gardens (Masarykovy sady; at the time named Hilbert's garden - Hilbertovy sady) set up an aviary with a fox, raccoons, pheasants and other birds. The aviaries were probably indirect predecessor and impulsion for setting up of a small zoo, so-called Koutek živé přírody (Corner of Live Nature). It was built by a group of enthusiasts and Okresní myslivecký svaz (District Hunting Association) in 1960 (at that time the Park was named Gardens of rest - Sady oddychu). There were mainly handicapped and orphaned animals - wild boars, roe deer, foxes, raccoons, badgers, martens, European rabbits, common buzzards, long-eared and barn owls, magpies, Eurasian turtle and European collared doves and possibly also other animals. In some aviaries there were also hunting dogs of owners living in the prefab houses. Corner of Living Nature was abolished shortly after the Revolution of the early 90s because of ideological hate. It was destroyed and stolen away.
