Kladno Zoological Garden

Small zoo located in a park near the former GDM (Gottwald's boarding houses). Everything started so that students bred small animals (mice, budgies etc.) in the boarding. Then they got fox and soon also marten. Cages were in front of the boarding house, which disliked for a hygienist and so the breeding was moved into the valley below the boarding house. Students built enclosures, cages and paths. Zoo was initially only for domestic animals (sheep, goats, donkeys, pigeons etc.), but later the new zoo contacted State Circuses and get a number of attractive animals - such as lion, brown and sun bears. Raccoons, badgers, polecats, porcupines, jackals, wolves, dingos, monkeys, moufflons, wild boars, roe deer, yaks, ponies etc. come from other zoos. On the pond were storks, geese and ducks, in cages budgies, cockatiels, pheasants... Also 50 rhesus macaques were here one time. After some time the zoo has taken over the municipality and subsequently were closed for ideological reasons ... For new director of Poldi SONP the zoo doesn't seem quite ideologically on the level! According to fragmentary information, another Zoo was reputedly in Kladno earlier - before the world war.
