Zookoutek Fryštát

History of this zoo-corner is somewhat intricate and not totally obvious... According to available information, the mini-zoo existed originally in Pak of Julius Fučík (Park Julia Fučíka, now University Park - Univerzitní park) since 1953 (later maybe also ceased to exist for a time). In the 70s Association of Breeders of Exotic Birds (Svaz chovatelů exotického ptactva) has set up there an Aviaries of exotic birds (including buildings). There were especially parrots - from budgies for macaws, but also other birds.

Later the zoo-corner was moved to Park of Božena Němcová (Park Boženy Němcové). In the first stage has been moved all the animals (fallow deer, donkeys, goats, peacocks, ducks, hens etc., perhaps even parrots and other birds). However, over time, all breedings were abolished... Although the zoo-corner still exists, already it is the enclosure of fallow deer and peacocks only. No other animals.

The original aviaries in today's University Park was on city land and its construction was financed by municipality, so leadership of municipality recently decided to liquidate this former area (in 2010, the aviaries were taken down, and the buildings should be followed).
