  • Popis, zvířata

Originally hunting game park founded in 1534 by Ferdinand I (then called Nová obora - New Game Park). 1541, a wooden fence had to be replaced by a high wall because of the large number of deer. 1555, Letohrádek Hvězda (summer residence) begins to be build and soon there was created an aviary and then also menagerie. Ferdinand had here 12 camels, the "Indian donkey" (yellow, fully hairy and with hairs on mouth like a lion), "Indian calf" and 2 hunting cheetahs.

Rudolf II made more park from the game park and to game animal added also some exotic species. Hvězda Game Park along with Ovenec Game Park became a branch of the Royal Menagerie (today known as the Menagerie of Rudolph II or Lion's Court) and as well as that, it was occasionally opened to the public. In addition to red deer, fallow deer, wild boars and other game animals from our region, there were reportedly also antelope and (or) gazelles, and in 1592 twelve lions with Indian keeper was brought here. Maybe there were also other interesting species, but specific reports are not available.

No information about the end of the breeding of exotic animals in the Hvězda Game Park is not available- it can be assumed that it occurred shortly after Rudolf's death (1612) or at the latest in 1620, when the entire game park was the venue of the Battle of the White Mountain.
